BIOGRAPHY

Audrey Elk was born in Jonesboro, Arkansas.  Her main interests in life are being outdoors and reading philosophy. These two fundamental interests influence the art. The work is motivated by human response to the mysteries of nature. Elk is interested in exploring the link between our dream reality and our waking reality, and does so using ambiguous forms in liminal landscapes. The surrealist manifesto is alive through her work- as the struggle to synthesize the two realities is still prevalent. There is no limit on medium, yet oil paints and various printmaking techniques are employed most frequently. She is occupied with transforming space and creating an immersive experience for the viewer with her sculptural installations.
